The threat of New Entrants: Low
It is moderately difficult to achieve the economies of scale in the healthcare industry in which CVS Health Corp operates. Thus, there are cost advantages for CVS which produces huge quantity of products. Thus the threats of new entrants are low for CVS.
There are various products like pharmacy, clinical services; digital and speciality pharmacy services available with CVS which can retain existing customers while the development of innovative products can help to acquire new customers.
Due high R&D cost the capital expenditure is high; hence it is difficult for the new entrants to enter this market easily. Also, due to the government’s strict licensing policies it is difficult for the new entrants to set up healthcare facilities by adhering to the standards and the business requirements.
