Given target inflation rate is 2%, so e = 2%
We are also given % triangle Y = 3.5%
So real interest rate r = 8.5-3.5 = 5%
We know nominal interest rate i = r +e = 5 + 2 = 7%
So % triangle V = 0.5*(7-5) = 1%
Optimal money growth rate = % triangle Y + target inflation rate (e) - % triangle V = 3.5 + 2- 1
= 4.5%
