The acquisition is done in order to combat the competition. It adds value to the acquiring company as they can expand their portfolio with the strength of the target company. In the acquisition planned by KBL by acquiring the ABC Company it will expand in the furniture business (Muller, Drouin & Sankaran, 2019).

and of KBL and the products of ABC will be able to acquire target segment in the market. It will also help KBL to increase the human resource by cutting the cost of recruitment. The existing workforce of ABC will come under the roof of KBL. This acquisition will make KBL one of the leading players in the market and will increase its valuation by $100 million.
The Pros and Cons of the Project
The positive side of the project is increased customer base. Without acquisition, it needs to plan with marketing strategies and invest additional funds whereas with the deal it will acquire existing customers and can target potential customers with existing products. Due to being a market leader, it can invest remaining funds in running promotional campaigns. The talent strength will be an additional advantage, as it will have proven talent in its team (Larsson & Larsson, 2020).
The negative aspects of the deal can be it will require severe monitoring after the acquisition as acquired talent can be unsatisfied with the policies of KBL. Moreover, the changed management and cultural issues can create troubles in smooth functioning. Post-acquisition these issues act as challenges, which need proven leadership to deal with.
