The purpose of this assessment is to enable students to use leadership techniques and strategies to facilitate team cohesion and work outcomes, understanding of purpose, roles and responsibilities of team and group decision making.
This assessment task one will cover knowledge taught in week one to four. By completing this assessment you will be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to tackle more complex scenarios in this unit. 
This short-answer assessment task is one of two assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this course.
There are 8 short answer questions that relate to content covered in week 1 to 4.

Group dynamics are considered as essential for organisational success. Positive group dynamics enable leaders in fully leveraging employees’ potential and tapping into their skills and experience. Positive group dynamics prevail where group or team members trust each other, strive towards making collective decisions, and assume responsibility for outcomes or results. For improving group dynamics, conducting diagnosis of what is going wrong and right in the team. It is necessary to observe team at work and conducting personal interviews for identifying issues and concerning areas (Bryson and Alston, 2017).
The discussion with other relevant people such as customers and managers is also worthy in this regard as it helps in finding about team’s problems and concerning areas. Second strategy is based on creating a team charter and enhancing team culture. Team charter is based on clear definition of roles and responsibility areas for motivating team members to work in united manner in order to achieve it. The clear team charter helps in defining behavioural and outcomes expectations related to members, giving them standards for improving their overall performance (Noorderhaven, 2013).
Question 2:
Team cohesion is understood as the extent to which each member in a team works in united manner in the pursuit of achieving mutually agreed goals. Any team can be considered as in the state of cohesion when members’ shares close connection and association with each other, and, working in a team a whole. Team cohesion leads to high team performance as it develops interpersonal empathy among team members. Interpersonal empathy builds confidence among team members, allowing each member to be aware of the skills and personality thereby knowing each other better and accomplishing tasks with more efficiency and spirit (Bryson and Alston, 2017).
It is said that when team members know each other that they are working with, they automatically develop different level of trust with each other. This trust increases their motivation and commitment, which in turn leads to high performance. Team cohesiveness also helps in building emotional intelligence at workplace. It happens as cohesive team organises several team-building activities beyond normal working hours in order to give team members an opportunity to know each other.
