original equipment’s to the suppliers with accessories along with guidelines of
corporate social responsibility. These guidelines were developed by Toyota Motor
Corporation which mentioned the company’s expectations and demands from the
suppliers about areas of safety, environment human rights. In details the guidelines
mentioned that the company shall not be involved to use forced child labour, apply
and comply with local applicable laws that are governing the employee’s working
hours in the company and need to recognise the safety of every employee and the
ights to associate or not to associate with the company.
To have a check on these measures the company had sent a questionnaire to more than
100 suppliers and around 70% completed the same. Environmental management is
one of the major responsibilities of Toyota; it keeps impacts of the vehicles
manufactured from production to disposal. Toyota is working towards building
environmental friendly vehicles in co-operation with their suppliers and retailers by
giving the guidelines for way of manufacturing and about the materials that are to be
used. The guidelines for environmental initiatives the suppliers are asked to take
educing greenhouse gas emissions and eliminating the substances that are of concern.
It is to maintain ISO 14001 certification. Environmental terms in regards to water; the
company has also reduced its water usage across its business by its suppliers and
themselves. About 13% of less water was consumed in 2009/2010.
