Marketing is identifying the needs of the customers and providing such products and services that will meet the need and requirement of the customers. Marketing is the process in which they persuade the interest of customer towards the product or services sold by the company. As per the American Marketing Association marketing is defined as the set of activities and process in which the organization communicates, deliver, exchange offerings that are delivering product or service for the price that will add value to the customers, partners and the society as a whole (Thimmesch, 2010).
Sales
Selling is an activity of promoting and transfer of ownership of the product from the seller to the buyer. The main activity of selling is to sell the product or services that are owned by the company without considering the need and requirement of the customers. They mainly focus on promoting the product that the company has and primarily focuses on transfe
ing the title of the product. It will mainly persuade the minds of the customers to purchase the product or service by indicating the merits of the product.
Difference Between Marketing and Selling
Marketing is the process that begins before manufacturing a product or providing the services as it analysis the needs of the customers and targets to address the needs of them. On the other hand, selling focuses on manufacturing the product and determines their services and focuses on selling to the customers whether they require them or not (Gupta, 2011). They do not address the needs of customer like marketing.
