One of an important part of any research work is to formulate the management research 
problem. The formulation of management research problem starts with issue identification. It is 
important that researcher should apply all the skills and knowledge while formulating the 
management research problem. It is important that researcher should take the inputs from 
different stakeholders before formulating the management research problem. Epistemology is the 
branch of philosophy that is concerned with nature and scope of knowledge (Henneberg, 
2008).  It questions what knowledge is and how it can be acquired, and the extent to which 
knowledge pertinent to any given subject or entity can be acquired. 
Different researchers can have different epistemological perspective while formulating 
the management research problem. For example, some of the researcher may believe that 
research is common sense and common people would consume the research knowledge. Some 
other researcher may involve them in scientific research. The objective of this paper is to discuss
