In the Week 3 paper, you discussed controversial treatments that are evidence based. In this assignment, you will be considering controversial interventions that are not evidence based. These treatments are not behavior analytic in nature and therefore, cannot be recommended by a BCBA.

Numerous controversial treatments are promoted for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Almost all behavior analysts agree that these treatments lack sufficient empirical support. These treatments include facilitated communication, sensory integration, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, elimination diets, chelation therapy, floortime, and more. Conduct an Internetsearch for information on one of the topics mentioned above. If you would like to choose a topic not listed, first message your instructor for approval to be sure it is not evidence based. Also research the treatment in theJournal of Applied Behavior Analysis or other professional ABAjournals.

aric oxygen therapy
Hype
aric oxygen therapy is controversial treatment that includes
eathing pure oxygen in pressurized room and chamber. The study suggests potential benefits for conditions like chronic wounds and certain infections and overall scientific consensus is inconclusive. Critics argue evidence supporting efficacy is limited and often anecdotal. Implementation of hype
aric oxygen chambers involves placing individuals in sealed environment where air pressure is increased to higher-than-normal levels. This allows lungs to gather more oxygen than under normal conditions (Ortega et al. 2021). The process is believed to promote healing by increasing oxygen delivery to tissues. The concern about safety, inconsistent research findings and risk of complications underscore the controversy su
ounding this treatment. Approval from healthcare professionals, rigorous research and clear guidelines are necessary before widespread adoption for balancing potential benefits against potential risks and ensuring patient safety in the pursuit of medical advancements.
Pro and Con to Controversial Treatment
Hype
aric oxygen therapy shows potential benefits and concerns. Proponents argue that increased oxygen levels in body during HBOT can enhance wound healing and combat infections. Studies like Journal of Wound Care indicates that hype
aric oxygen can stimulate angiogenesis and collagen synthesis for promoting tissue repair. Critics express reservations about efficacy and safety of treatment. The American Cancer Society states that evidence supporting HBOT for cancer treatment is insufficient for focusing the need for more research. Concerns also su
