Residing in this American society is a new and unique experience for me. As a 
fact I belong to one of the minorities of the United States of America and specifically I 
belong to the Mexican American community. In my opinion there are some unique 
features of my native country Mexico and the Mexican society which I think I should 
retain in order to sustain my individuality in while dwelling amidst of the immense 
cultural diversity which the American society is composed of.  
By residing in this American society I have learned that this society and the 
families which make up this society are basically devoid of unity. There is a lot of 
relation gap between parents and children and between each individual as a whole. In 
Mexico the society is based on collectivism unlike the United States the society of which 
is based on a kind of pseudo-individualism.
