1. Introduction
Professional Development (Boysen 2018) is refe
ed to as continuing education and training after the professional (i.e., person) has entered the workforce, this is done to develop new and updated skills, to stay up to date with the trends, and last, but not least keep advancing in their career.
Professional development is important because it allows the people in the workforce to stay updated with the latest trend and skills. Not only this but many professional certifications require continuous professional development to renew the licence or certification.
Professional development is very important and aims for the following:
· Update your skills to keep them updated
· Increase efficiency
· Keep you competitive with the new workforce
2. Reflection on the development of professional skills
2.1 Problem Solving Skills
Problem-solving skills are the most important skills in professional development because they allow the professional to solve the complex business problem that arises regularly. Problem-solving skills are part of professional development because these skills need to be updated regularly with the new technologies as they are needed to come up with a new solution to solve the problem at hand.
Importance of problem identification
Problem identification is the most important part of problem-solving because this sets up the need for the techniques that will be used to solve the problem. Problem identification is done using problem analysis (Appendix 1). Also, because problem identification is the first step therefore it is very crucial to start the design process by proper identification of the problem and solving the problem.
Importance of new solutions
After the problem identification, the next step is to design a solution, and new solutions are something which become more and more important because new problems require new solutions and this is only done through the continuous ideas generation, which is then selected and implemented to solve the problem.
Skills developed in the module
The problem-solving skills (Carpenter 2020) developed in the module are very helpful and the skills developed are:
· Problem Analysis
· Decision Making
· Communication, Team building
· Research
The above-mentioned skills are the must which should be developed by every professional because they are important at each career level where new problems keep popping up and solutions are required.
