Introduction 
Seven additional clinics have recently been established by our hospital to the surrounding communities, and we have plans to add more. The community will benefit from this since they will be able to receive better care. In addition to our existing clinics, these seven new clinics have added almost 12000 new accounts to our coding department.
Due to a lack of Pro-Fee programmers, the increased amount of these accounts has caused a backlog that is overwhelming our department. Pro-Fee developers have committed to working long hours and high volume over the previous few months. The Pro-Fee team has chosen to engage outsourced coding services to assist with the backlogs in order to temporarily resolve this issue.
The backlogs were evident; however, new problems were created for the audit team as they audited and found many errors from outsourced coders. These includes:
•	Outsources coder assigned incorrect codes due to lack of training
•	As a result, the audit team needs more time to audit these charts
•	Returned charts will come back to our coders log for fixing
•	Budget stretch as Overtime hours are needed to solve the backlog problems. 
With the sequence problems we face, I proposed cross-training our internal coders to form a high-quality coder pool that these coders will name "multispecialty coders." These coders will be assigned to help with the needed area outside their primary specialisation. As an incentive, there will be an end-of-year bonus for your total time on pool hours. 
First, I would like to thank you for being a part of this Coding and Education team, as I get surrounded by all good coders and educators. To explain why cross-training is a great project for our department, I have reviewed several articles about the benefits of cross-training internal employees.
