    Assignment Brief
    As Case Study: CC Music
Chris and Clive are both former music and music technology teachers who have recently taken early retirement. However, they have a long history of playing in bands and being session musicians, therefore they intend to remain busy. A Northern Soul band that they have worked with for many years, touring around the North West of England, will now become their focus. Chris and Clive have always managed all aspects of the band (studio work, playing at events, parties, TV and radio programmes). They publicise the band via a website, deal with all booking a
angements over the phone, and receive contracts and cheque payments through the post. The other six band members simply turn up and play. The band has always played at least twelve gigs a year, but this is likely to increase substantially now that they can commit more time to networking and promotions. As such, they will be required to take a much more professional approach. In addition, several other bands have asked if they will represent them for an agreed fee. As a professional route, this would mean considerable time working as music agents to promote other artists.
Chris and Clive are aware that starting the agency would require a business approach. They would be responsible for; social media marketing, keeping business accounts, providing an updated calendar of events, and keeping track of the communications between themselves, the clients who want to book bands, and the bands who are signed to CC Music.
They realise that technology will play an important part in the business. They have read about Customer Relationship Management software and Enterprise Resource Management software, but just don’t know what kind of information technology support they really need as a small to medium enterprise (SME). They require professional business information technology advice before they can make any final decisions about investing funds in business software. Also, they are very keen on the potential of Open Source Software to keep the cost to a minimum.
Growing CC Music into a full-time small business is also of interest to younger family members who want to be involved. Chris has a daughter and Clive has a niece, both of whom are keen to support the business and potentially manage the business in the future. They have all agreed to run the business in a democratic style and, as such, everyone will have an equal vote on any business decisions. Therefore, CC Music requires a report that can be read and understood by all of them. You are the OIM consultant who is responsible for researching this business and providing a consultancy report.

There were more demands for various bands to Chris and Clive to provide such professional service to their bands so that they will be in a position to handle the events efficiently. The new venture requires more business analysis and implementation of software to handle the business affairs so that they can render best services to the customers. There is a requirement for the new venture critical analysis before taking a new step in the business. The report aims at guiding the CC Music as how they have to handle the new business venture efficiently by conducting a critical analysis of the new business venture in detail.
Analysis
Business Process Models and Strategy Analysis
CC Music is cu
ently involved in the business that provides a better enhanced level of services to the specific band and handles all the requirements for successful band operations. The below business process model represents the existing business process model.
Existing Business Process Model
From the existing business process model, it is clear that cu
ently they are associated with a band, and they are providing additionally various services like contract management, promoting the bands through the website, selling the tickets and a
anging the events and coordination with various parties and even managing the television and advertisement programmed efficiently (Marten, n.d.). The existing business model has created a positive impression about their services among the industry and popularity to them. There is always scope for business expansion. The CC music is obtaining more offers from various bands to handle their events efficiently and professionally. The below business process model represents the future business process model.
Prospective Business Process Model
The above diagram indicates the requirement for the changes in the business process model that are critical to consider and understand the company before implementing the new business model. The company should understand and analyze about the additional requirement like social media marketing, a regular update to the clients, management of the client events and updating the clients about the upcoming events, managing the business accounts and selling all the tickets on behalf of various clients and tracking them (Meall, n.d.). It is a tedious process as it will require the efficient system to manage various bands.
SWOT
Strategic analysis of the business is an important element in the business, and it is done through the SWOT analysis. The main reason for selecting the SWOT analysis is that it will enable to evaluate both the internal and external environment efficiently.
Strengths
The CC music’s major strength is their partners Chris and Clive. Both are from the music background, and they have coordinated various events, and they are part of the bands and have performed in the North West of England. Their knowledge about the music and the band operations provides a competitive advantage for them to coordinate with the other bands. Similarly, they have been part of the band that makes them more equipped in understanding the expectation of the bands and how to communicate with them timely. They have experience in promoting their band on the website. They have their set of followers that makes them reach to more audience easily.
With their experience, they will be in a position to reach to more customers effectively. They have experience in handling various customers queries and in handling the ticket bookings. It makes them handle the customers and booking of other customers effectively. They used to receive contracts and receive the payments which indicate about their specialization in contract handling and payment handling. Similarly, they used to communicate with the other band members to indicate about the events on a regular basis and that made them expert in handling and coordinating the events with the band members in a professional manner. It will enable them to handle all the business affairs competitively.
Similarly, another advantage is that they intend to make use of software to provide best professional services to their clients. It will result in providing an enhanced level of services to various clients. CC music will be in a position to handle the business expansion an efficiently because Chris has a daughter and Clive has a niece who is interested in handling the business along with them. It indicates that they are prepared to handle the sudden growth or requirement of the workforce in an efficient manner.
Weaknesses
The major weakness is that they have worked with the band in which they were associated for a longer period. They have a well-established relationship with them, and it was quick for handling various affairs seamlessly. Handling multiple clients and events that fall at the same time in different locations will become difficult to handle. It might be challenging to promote various bands efficiently through social media and website. If there is any dissatisfaction or mistake takes place where one ban becomes more popular than the other band then it will challenge the
and equity and the business ethics of the company. If the company is not receiving the payments continuously from various clients promptly, then it will cause big challenge to them. They are not prepared to take the business to the next level as they have not handled simultaneously multiple clients.
Opportunities
Gaining
and name is a challenge in this profession, but at the same time, there is more scope for expansion. It will enable the company to provide more services to various bands, and they are restricted to the growth and development of one particular band. If one band is not performing well and other is performing well then also they can book profits. If the company is proving to best in hosting and handling the events, then there is more scope to get clients from a different part of the country (Meall, n.d.). Similarly, it will provide an opportunity to handle the events across the border around the globe in an efficient manner. It will provide...
