Introduction

ed in North America on the First Nation. The indigenous groups of people living in Canada were the first inhabitants of Canada which was called First Nation. It was after the a
ival of the European the lives of the indigenous people of Canada were being destroyed and massacred. These European were more destructive and aggressive. They harmed the animals like bison by killing their entire population in order to construct the railway route. The indigenous people living in the First Nation lost approximately 98% of their land and were being enforced to live in small spaces and in isolation. This resulted in the loss of the identity and were being treated as slaves which was conducted in an illegal manner. The children of the indigenous people were being asked to visit Christian schools where they were being converted to Christianity and were been tortured as well as abused
utally by the colonist teachers. Further, there were no ceremonies which were being allowed by the colonists. There were not even permitted to raise their political voice. This raised the anger among the indigenous people towards the European colonists (Adam, Brett and Cameron; 2014).
It was in the 19th century when the indigenous people living in parts of North America who faced huge destruction where it was found that around 90% to 99% of the people were ousted. Further, the expansion of Canada towards the West was less ferocious than that of United States. Hence, the colonization which occu
ed in Canada was quite deadly. Many noted the combined impact of European colonialism and feared that the indigenous people of Canada were to the
ink of extinction. Further, it was the European borne diseases which were ca
ied by the European colonists resulted in killing of many indigenous people of Canada. They were also been killed by artilleries and deadly weapons. There were few laws established by the colonists for protection against encroachment of the lands and illegal auctions, against alcohol sales as well as protected the rights of the members from seizure of their properties, with respect to taxes and towards taking legal obligations. The European settlers a
ived in North America by the middle of the nineteenth century especially for the want of gold, land, minerals, fish and wood. They didn’t take the assistance of any domestic partners. Canada is famous for bison which were being reared by the indigenous people of America. But, when the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway was being conducted these bison were been killed ruthlessly in the Prairies. This resulted in the shortage of foods for the indigenous people due to mass killing of the bison herd which were being consumed by them (Facing History and Ourselves; 2021).
Therefore, it can be stated that it was more of a complicated and contradictory relationship which can be illustrated between the indigenous people and the European colonists. This was done by the European colonists through various strategic warfare along with deployment of diplomacy.
