ent criminal justice training program.
Working in a team has its benefits. You will get to know your classmates and benefit from each other’s experiences and different perspectives. Remember that the success of your team depends on each person’s contribution. Everyone is required to participate in the team process.
As you work with your teammates, each member should be actively involved in the discussions and work, supporting each other and assisting in the workload. Also, each team member should be willing to resolve differences professionally and ethically and work towards the common goal. Note that the material required for each portion of the presentation will be different: Some portions may require more research and others may need more slides. Try to divide the work equitably and do not hesitate to share information with your teammates.
Our topic for this project is: Suicide prevention and mental health of officers.

Mental Health issues and suicide plagues all areas of law enforcement. It is imperative that administration take an active role in providing adequate care and training for their staff members. A good way to reach their staff will be through annual trainings where the focus can be on mental health awareness for the individual and for those around them. Law enforcement officials need to be aware of the sign of someone in mental distress and suffering with suicidal ideations. Law enforcement agencies may find it helpful to recruit, and train gate keeper staff. These staff members can act as individuals who can be trusted to discuss issues of mental health and other issues with. They will have the tools to assist staff members in need.

Employee assistance programming can help provide a confidential outlet for staff member. It will put them in contact with licensed mental health professionals who can assist them. They will also be able to provide resources to family members who may be dealing with mental health issues or suicidal ideations. Providing this type of programming to law enforcement officers will normalize the concepts of mental health and suicide and may open a line of dialogue between staff members and administrators.
