CMAPP Model Paper + Presentation
PAPER
DUE: October 21, 2021, by 11:59 pm (submitted on Brightspace)
WORD COUNT: XXXXXXXXXXwords
WORTH: 16%
We have talked extensively about the CMAPP model and how beneficial it is for
communication purposes. As you all progress in your studies and eventually in your
careers, you will be working with a variety of people, and so knowing how to
communicate and deliver information is a key skill to have.
In this assignment you will choose 1 of the science articles from Science Daily-
Engineering News + one other source of your choice related to your topic (make sure it
is credible-see LEC 6).
Using the CMAPP model create a scenario. I would like this paper to include all the
components of a CMAPP model: Context, Audience, Message, Purpose, and Product in
paragraph format.
Using the content from the articles as the Message, think of who you are going to be
informing, educating or relaying this information to, where it will take place, why you are
even informing people about this message, how you will be delivering the message, etc.
When you discuss the Product (how you will be relaying the message), I would like you
to describe WHY you believe this is the best mode of delivery (based on the other
components of CMAPP model).
REMEMBER to think in context of your audience. Although I am allowing you to come up
with your own scenario, make sure the elements work together and that you are not just
choosing randomly.
I also encourage you to use graphs and/or pictures to incorporate in your essay. A great
place to get pictures is Pixabay. Most of these pictures do not need attribution (credit)
and are under creative commons,
Please make sure to use parenthetical citations and include a reference page of the
article that you use in APA style. You also have the option to use other outside sources
to supplement the information provided by the articles, but if you do make sure to
eference them.

Organization of paper:
− Title page
− Outline or Table of Contents
− Short Introduction
− A paragraph on each element of CMAPP model
− A conclusion –which includes WHY your PRODUCT worked best with the elements of the
CMAPP model
− VISUALS incorporated throughout the paper
− Reference page and in-text citations
Example: (Yours will be longer and organized formally- this is just to understand
the structure of the project)
The article I chose was about how high the sugar content is in fruit flavoured yogurt.
C: Takes place during health and fitness week at the nursing home; at 9 am;
M: Sugar content is high in fruit flavoured yogurt. (Contents of the article)
A: Senior citizens at Hillcrest Nursing Home
P: To promote healthy eating amongst seniors and lower the risk of diabetes. Provide
alternatives.
P: A short PPT with a lot of pictures, large text, and
ight colours. Also, samples of
educed sugar yogurts and a fruit platter.
Reasoning: Because they are older, having a short presentation outlining the cons of
high sugar count not lose their attention span. Also including pictures engages the
audience and the limited amount of text is written in large font because it is easier on the
eyes. Also, including actual samples of alternatives
eakfasts to yogurt containing
added sugar, helps with the transfer of knowledge.
PRESENTATION
When: Starts the week of November 3, 2021 (Submit to Brightspace Dropbox folder a
day before your scheduled tutorial that week)
Where: During your scheduled labs
Duration: 5 mins
Worth: 10% of total grade
The presentation portion of this project will be taking place during the last 2 or 3
weeks of labs starting November 2021. You will be presenting and discussing the
components of your paper using a Power Point or Prezi. It should be 5 minutes long (no
longer, please!).
You will be required to create a PowerPoint or Prezi and discuss the elements of
the CMAPP (Context, Message, Audience, Purpose and Product), as well as the
easoning (why did you chose the product).
Remember to use proper presentation set up as well as to practice presentation
skills! (We will discuss these skills in lecture)
Finally, you will be assessing your classmates as they present (I will be giving out
a handout in tutorial). This will be a component of you grade, so please make sure that
you show up even if you are not presenting.
In terms of order of presentations, if you would like to go first, let me know, other
than that they will be at random based on the order that they are uploaded in Dropbox.
