Constructivist Approach of Piaget and Vygotsky
Introduction
    The cognitive development of children is subjected to have multiple dimensions from where, they can learn about growing as an adult in the company of their parents and teachers or even in the company of social people around them. Their behavioral approach is driven from the theory of constructivism (Pardjono, 2016). However, the two major theorists of this tradition, Piaget and Vygotsky have different opinions about the developmental psychology of children. While Piaget believes in the stage theory by stating four major stages as necessary to the cognitive growth of a child, Vygotsky emphasizes the need of environmental learning, a procedure in which social constructivism is achieved by putting the child into an atmosphere of self learning. The two theorists have critical approach towards understanding the behavioral psychology of children.
Piaget and Constructivist Approach
    At first, it is significant to note here that Piaget’s theory of constructivism is widely acknowledged as the genetics of epistemology. He wanted to understand and prove what kind of organism takes place in constructing the developmental psychology in children and to do that, he divided the entire process of development of a child into four stages. It is also noteworthy here that he emphasizes over the need of having these stages as mandatory in the course of understanding the developmental psychology (Pardjono, 2016). A child goes through initial years of learning in the company of his or her parents first and then with his or her teacher at school. The stages occur, as per the advancement of age. For example, the sensory motor stage, preoperational, concrete operational as well as formal operational stages are connected strongly with specific age groups of the children. There is a natural life cycle which helps in the growth of children to teenage, making them learn new things in the environment in which, they are su
ounded by different kinds of people and objects (Pardjono, 2016).
