Introduction
The poem I chose for analysis and interpretation was Robert Hayden's “Those Winter Sundays." The author’s questions have long attracted readers because it involves situations in which various people experienced surely once in their lives. The language of author's as well as artistic means convey a view that people tend to pay less attention to good attitudes and good deeds, particularly when they simply become a part of someone's routine, which can leave a very strong impression, mostly stopping the reader to rethink about his approach towards certain events in their life (Goldstein and Chrisman 254).
Thesis: “Those Winter Sundays" by Robert Hayden's is a unique poem that has so much to say in a very small space. It uses an event to portray the entire relationship between the father and the son. "The Winter Sundays" is a good poem written for Robert Hayden's father. Even though at first poem did not seem to pay great respect to Robert father, when we looked deeper, Robert’s admiration moreover his love for his father became apparent.
Those Winter Sundays
In this poem, the writer recalls his childhood memories when Robert father rose up before sunrise to set fire to warm the hose on a cold winter. Hayden competently uses powerful and deep images to transmit his emotions, not to make a direct statement, but to let the reader predict what was indicated in lines, thus creating a clear and vivid image of this event in his mind. "Winter Sunday" honors a criticized figure in 90-year-old American culture - a reviled, emotionally insignificant and distant father. A poem creates a way to perceive the emotional life of this type of man. A poem realizes how love lives in such type of person (Goldstein and Chrisman 254). "
