Examples: Social Influence theory, transformational leadership theory, game theory

Conceptual framework: the construction of ideas, assumptions, and beliefs sourced in both the literature and one’s own experience, which identify the main concepts that guide the formulation of the research problem, purpose, and question.

Examples: Concepts from positive psychology, mindfulness meditation, language development models

Normally any person studying these finds difficulty in distinguishing the above two.  Unless a thorough understanding about the concepts of these two is made, the distinction would seem impossible only.  
While the theoretical framework provides a general explanation or interpretation of the things in the given phenomenon. In other words, the time tested theories which helped findings of numerous investigations, is the main cause for the existence of theoretical framework. Brains, C.; Willnat, L.; Manheim, J.; Rich, R. The conceptual framework normally does not dwell on the past findings or theories but depends on the researcher’s innovative ideas about how the problem taken for research can be explored.
