The Opening 
“It’s still midnight”, Mr. Summers muttered the word to himself. He woke up relentlessly in the middle of the night on 26th of June. It was not in his habit to roam around the house. Being a sound sleeper and known for his snoring, it was something unusual that would happen to him every year on 26th of June. The next day was the endemic day for someone, 27th of June, the day when lottery will be claimed, the day when someone will be erased from the town population. Though all these ideas could matter to someone, Mr. Summers had nothing but the anxiety in mind that the paper slips were not ready yet. “I forgot to cross examine all the paper slips and it now worries me.” He spoke to himself. “I see that now days, I am becoming a bit negligent”.
