Introduction
The Galaxy Way, which is an event management team in Sydney, Australia had organised a music event for raising funds for treatment of cancer patient in which 560 people attended the event. After happening of an event, assessing the positive and negative part of the event is of utmost importance. It helps in identification of areas where the firm should focus on. Evaluation of the success or failure of the event management team should be done to plan the future course of action for the team. After identification of the issues, certain recommendations have been provided to improve the effectiveness of the event management team.
1. Evaluation of the success or failure of the firm in achieving the aims and objectives
The main aim of the event was to use the event as a platform for collecting funds for treatment of patients suffering from cancer. The event has been successful in achieving its objective. The net proceeds from the event after payment of all the expenses were $40300, which is higher than the target profit. 560 people attended the cultural music event that is a significant number. The event has also laid a platform for organisation music events for charitable purposes. The cultural songs were the attraction of the event. The audience loved the local songs being played by artist. This has also been highly helpful in promoting the culture and tradition of Australia.
Spreading awareness regarding cancer was one of the main objective of the event. Huge number of banners was put to attract the attention of the audience regarding the symptoms of cancer and the measures that can be taken to prevent cancer. Banners of medical units providing cancer treatment were also displayed. Such advertising banners were the major source of revenue for conducting the event. Such banners helped in spreading awareness about cancer along with promoting the medical units providing cancer treatment. Although the audience loved, the local songs but the number of performances based on such local songs could have been more.
The firm was able to generate the target profits but it could have generated more profits. The target audience was in the range of 300-600 people. 560 people attended the event but the number would have reached 600, if the promotional activities had been more aggressive. In addition to that, the culture of Australia could have been promoted in a better manner if there were more performances on cultural or folk songs. The authentic Australian cuisine could have been sold through food stalls. This would have helped the firm in earning high profits that would have been even better. The funding objectives of the event have been achieved but higher profits could have been generated. The objective regarding spreading awareness regarding cancer has been achieved. According to Laing and Mair (2015), the promotion of Australian culture can be better if the event is planned in a better manner. Therefore, it can be said that the event was successful in terms of achieving few objectives. However, additional profits would have been generated if the planning mechanism were effective.
2. Recommendations about the attaining the aims and objectives
Few objectives of the event have been achieved partially whereas few have been achieved fully. If the audience had been able to attract 600 audience, the profits arising out of the event would have been higher. This was an issue at the planning stage. The firm was unable to estimate the number of audience that would attend the event in a precise manner. In addition to that, few expenses were incu
ed that would have been minimised. As per the...
