Introduction
           The Uniform Crime Report and the National Crime Victimization Survey are statistical programs used by the Department of Justice in the United States to identify the crimes, their impact and keep count of the various crimes. The Uniform Crime Report was started in 1929 and the National Crime Victimization Survey was started in 1973. And the difference between the two programs is that the National Crime Victimization survey started by the Bureau of Justice statistics is more detailed than the Uniform Crime report and the data collection is very different in each program.
Crime Trends in the Last 10 years
           According to (Guide, 2018), the crime trends recorded in the last ten years by the National Crime Victimization Survey and Uniform Crime Report, the crimes have decreased in the case of violent crimes, property crimes have decreased, and in the case of serious violent crimes, the percentage has decreased to a certain extent after there was a rise in the mid-years. The first crime trend that we are going to examine is the violent crime trend based on the 2018 report.
The NCVS chart shows that the aggravated assault was very high in 1995 but decreased to a greater extent over the years. Of all the violent crimes committed, only rape and sexual assault have increased slightly.
From the two charts, it can be noticed that the violent crime rate from the 2018 guide has decreased over the years. There was a spike around 1990 to 1995 but the crime rate has gradually decreased over the years.
Property Crimes
           The property crimes recorded by the National Crime Victimization Survey are very detailed and show a downward trend in property crimes in the last decade. 
 
The chart indicates that there are three different property crimes recorded in the NCVS survey and they are larceny, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. Out of the three there is a steep decline in larceny and theft, while the steady decline in burglary and moto vehicle theft.
