The World Anti-Doping Agency or WADA is an independent body or institution, formed in
November, 1999, with a mission of promoting and co-ordinating the fight against doping or
the use of performance-enhancing drugs in sports in various forms and at an international
level. It is responsible for drafting, implementing and monitoring the World Anti-Doping
Code, which is a set of regulations and rules adopted by various sports organisations and
government authorities in this regard. The regulatory regime seeks to provide the framework
for harmonisation of various anti-doping policies, rules and regulations relating to testing,
esearch, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, penalties relating to athletes found guilty of doping
and so on. The Code and the related regulations are based upon the ethical principles of the
Global Business Standards Codex.(Houlihan, 2004). The Global Business Standards Codex
comprise of eight ethical and governing principles which provide a summary of regulations
and best practices to form a Corporate code of Conduct. These principles lay down the
