ELE4ACS/5PMC – Assignment XXXXXXXXXX% Subject Total)
Due date: Friday 21st September (prior to midnight). Must be submitted via turnitin on LMS. No late
assignment will be accepted.
Literature Survey on GPS and GPS Antennas
Overview: As part of ELE4ACS/5PMC you are required to undertake a major project. In 2018 this
project will be the design, manufacture and testing of a GPS antenna. Prior to getting into the details
of design we must firstly get a good grasp of the theory and undertake a thorough literature survey
(literature review). A literature review or na
ative review is a type of review article. A literature
eview is a scholarly paper, which includes the cu
ent knowledge including substantive findings, as
well as theoretical and methodological contributions to a particular topic. Literature reviews are
secondary sources, and do not report new or original experimental work. Your Literature Review
should provide a comprehensive review of the literature relevant to your topic.
Assignment requirements: You are required to undertake a literature survey on the topic of GPS and
GPS antennas that will serve as preliminary research for your major project. In fact, the work
conducted in this assignment can be used directly as part of your final report.
• The literature survey must be no longer than 4 pages typed including all
eferences/citations.
• The survey must have at least 8 references including research papers (journals/conferences),
ook
ook chapters and others.
• Wikipedia and other webpage sources are not scholarly articles and therefore must be
avoided
• Your literature survey should be structured and easy to follow
• The literature survey should provide you and the reader with knowledge on the background
of GPS and the reception of GPS signals with a specific focus on antennas, measurement and
anything else that may be important in your major project.
• You must use the IEEE referencing style
