As per the Federal bank of United States employment rate as an indicator of
economy can raise false alarms because, it depends hugely on the number of
people simultaneously quitting the job.
Federal Chair Woman Jennet Yeelen and President Trump has recently shown
their concern over utilizing unemployment rate to judge the health of the
economy.
Unemployment rate is measured by the people who are actively looking for a
job and are still unemployed, this indicate that the people who are quitting
the job search because despite their hard work to find a job are not able to
find a job are not included in unemployment rate. Thus if jobs are hard to find
in economy the effect of unemployment rate is diluted and the true scenario
about the overall economy is not revealed. Because of the as the number of
quitters increases artificially the unemployment rate becomes low. As per the
Fed Chairwoman Jennet Yellen this phenomena played an extremely active
ole in the decline of unemployment rate although the effect and significance
of effect of this phenomena is still uncertain.
Unemployed workers who give up on finding a job and quit the job hunt are
not included in the Census Bureau's definition of the unemployed. As a result,
large numbers of quitters artificially lower the unemployment rate. On
Monday, Yellen allowed that such a dynamic played a role in the decline in the
unemployment rate in past years, although she said it was hard to know how
just how significant that role...
