Description of our Project Subject: Brew-Magic Mobile App
The team will work to complete a mobile application for the Android operating system. The title of the application is “Brew Magic Mobile” and it will incorporate functionalities of the Brew Magic V350MS System, manufactured by SABCO. The Brew Magic V350MS is an automated home brewery operated by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). In order to implement the Brew Magic Mobile app, the team will need to create a GUI, configure networking and utilize both inputs and outputs from the PLC for the mobile application. The PLC must also be configured to accept input and send output to the mobile client. The application will allow users to monitor timers and temperatures running on the Brew Magic V350MS as well as start or stop either a pump or heating element through the Brew Magic Mobile app. The mobile application will also mirror alarms output by the PLC. Once these core functions are established, further features may be added to the project such as the ability to connect to the system outside of the local area network (LAN) and data synchronization between both the app and system.
The faculty advisor for the Brew Magic Mobile project is Mr. Jacob Phillips. The group is also working with Mr. Matt French from Brew Magic. Mr. French is the software engineer responsible for creating the software for the Brew Magic V350MS.
