Assessment Requirements for Case Study Project 1
1. You are the Operations Manager of The Righteous Bean. You have been asked by your Managing Director Mark Penfold to prepare and develop a business plan to create a new retail coffee store in Victoria (refer to the “Case Study” document)
2. Conduct a meeting with the Senior Management Team to consult input to determine the contents of the business plan
3. Use your research effort to write up the business plan using the document “The Righteous Bean Business Plan Template”.
4. Conduct meeting with the Senior Management Team to present the completed business plan and collect feedback for suggested revision, focusing on objectives, timeline, performance measures and resources to support plan. Addresses concerns including human resources and recruitment.
5. Create a summary of the finalised business plan outcome by email to the Managing Director with the updated business plan.
Submission needed:
Stage 1: Prepare to develop a business plan => NO action needed
Stage 2: Meet with the Senior Management Team => submit “The meeting discussion scripts with the Senior Management” using the section “Assignment Comment”
Discussion should include:
· explain the purpose of a plan and its benefits
· outline components to be included in the plan
· outline your interpretation of the business’ vision, mission and values based on your evaluation of existing information and from discussion.
· discuss proposed performance objectives &key performance indicators to assess achievement of the objectives.
· listen to the feedback provided by the management team
Stage 3: Write a Business Plan => submit the properly completed “The Righteous Bean Business Plan”
Stage 4: Discussion of the Business Plan => submit “Meeting discussion scripts with the Senior Management to present the business plan and feedback for suggested changes – particularly about human resources and recruitment” using the section “Assignment Comments”
Stage 5: Write a summary of outcomes => submit
1) a professionally written email to the Managing Director confirming their endorsement and suggested changes; summary of the updated business plan, including overview of the action plan and the staff involved
2) the updated Business Plan after discussion with the Senior Management

1. You are the Operations Manager of The Righteous Bean. You have been asked by your Managing Director Mark Penfold to prepare a Performance Monitoring Report after the business plan has been implemented for 12 months.
2. Refer to the “Righteous Bean Case Study” in this case study for the planned performance indicators and the actual performance outcomes, with information about the reasons for the actual business performance.
3. Use your research effort on top of this case study information to write up the Performance Monitoring Report using the document “The Righteous Bean Report Template”.
4. Create a summary of recommendations from this Performance Monitoring Report by email to the Managing Director. Attach the Performance Monitoring Report again as well.

Stage 1: Prepare and submit the Performance Monitoring Report
Stage 2: 
a) Write a professional email to the Managing Director Mark Penfold summarising the recommended actions and personal involved

Assessment Requirements for Case Study Project 3
1. You are the Operations Manager of The Righteous Bean. You have been asked by your Managing Director Mark Penfold to prepare for a meeting with one of your Client Relationship Officers to discuss under-performance issues. (refer to the “Case Study” document).
Write and submit a professional email to this staff member regarding your intention to discuss the under-performance areas of concern. You also want to confirm the date, time and place for the meeting.
2. Conduct a meeting role play with that Client Relationship Officer to explain to him/her what the problem is, why it is a problem and how it impacts on the business.
In the meeting role play, you act as the Operations Manager and discuss:
· explain the purpose of the meeting
· explain the identified issues related to objectives and key performance indicators
· discuss the level of performance expected by the company
· provide the staff member with the opportunity to respond to the issues
· use the meeting as a coaching opportunity so that the staff member understands the issues and is better prepared to meet the required performance standard
· discuss and agree on a solution
