Abstract and Overview: The article is about the evolution of Bengaluru from a less-
populated area to a megacity with increasing population. Going through the article 
one can come to understand how the rapid in-migration of population from the other 
parts of the Indian states and Karnataka itself has posed serious challenges on 
Bengaluru’s overall carrying capacity as far as land use, transport and other basic 
amenities are concerned. Moreover, the article is concerned with how the open 
spaces in the eastern side of the city is enhancing the eastward expansion of
