1a.) Describe THOUGHTFULLY why it is important to be familiar with the basic concepts of DSP.
Digital signal processing (DSP) is a technique using which the information signal is mathematically modified to improve it in one way or the other. This is achieved by the representation of discrete frequency, discrete time, or other discrete domain signals by a sequence of symbols or numbers and the processing of these signals.
The importance of DSP lies in its ability to filter, measure, and/or compress continuous real-world analog signals. DSP uses sampling on the input signal and then digitizes it using an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This process turns the analog signal into a stream of numbers. 
One of the most important applications of digital signal processors is in cellular phones. This technology helps to communicate to one another by seeing them while talking. 
Some of the advantages Of Digital Signal Processing can be listed as follows:
1. DSP makes the system flexible, because operations in DSP can be changed. We can change he program in a digital programmable system.
2. We have a higher level of accuracy in DSP which makes DSP Systems better than analog Systems.
 3. We can easily store the signals (digital signals) easily on a any magnetic media such as a a magnetic tape. It also doesn’t cause any loss in quality in reproduction of signal. Also, they can be easily transported.

I was always fascinated by different technologies that are available all around us. For example, it is very interesting to see people being able to communicate with their families situated at a far distance by using just a mobile phone. 
During my course curriculum DSP was introduced to us as a subject and once I started learning the concepts I could figure out lots of technologies around me. This is how I started paying more interest into the concept and I became familiar with it.
