India is the 7th largest nation in the South-Asian part of the globe. It has the 2nd largest population in the world and 4th largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity. India suffers from the burden of poverty with per capita income at $1670, ranked 112th out of 165 nation in 2017, as per World Bank estimates. Due to huge resource deficit, there has been significant influence of lending institutions on its development.
Positive Influences of Lending Institutions
India has been one of the major bo
owers from IMF and World Bank. IMF played a key role during the economic reforms in India in 1991. India faced a major balance-of-payment crisis due to the failure of various expansionary policies followed in 1980’s.
