in a catchment .using the basic principal of the unit hydrograph one can easily calculate the
direct runoff hydrograph. Unit hydrograph also used in study of the hydrology of a catchment
Uses are:
(i) The development of the flood hydrograph for extreme rainfall magnitudes for use in
design of hydraulic structures.
(ii) Extension of flood –flow records based on rainfall record .
(iii) Development of flood forecasting and warning system based on rainfall.
