Introduction
 Our challenge
As the population is continuing to expand, electricity is becoming one of the most
consuming resources in the world. In addition, the demand of energy is increasing
apidly to support the human existence. Reducing electricity consumption is the
essential goal that we want to achieve and accomplishing such objective will also ensure
the cleanliness of our environment. In order to achieve this goal we have to overcome
some challenges. We have to start the movement by spreading the awareness among
every members of each and every household. In fact, UAE is the second largest of the
Arab hydroca
on consumers and such demand on the part of the Emirates reduces the
esources and it is becoming difficult to meet the growing demand for energy which had
already grown up to 5.2% in 2011 (UAE energy demand up 5.2% in 2011, 2012).
 Importance of the challenge
Saving energy is very important to us and our community and this will help to preserve
esources for our next generations and this duty has been ca
ied on by our ancestors
too. UAE residents consume 225% more than European residents and such consumption
contributed about 9.5 ca
on footprint hectares per capital (Energy savers UAE). Thus,
UAE is now more concerned about preservation of energy and using the renewable
energy instead. And such efforts can be seen in places like Masdar city and Irena.
However, there some specific reasons for saving energy like for reducing the
Environmental impact which will prevent pollution. It is better to consume less coal or
natural gas and to switch over to alternative means to save the planet from the
menacing impact of ca
on dioxide. In addition, such switching over will sustain
esources for the future generation and ensure that they will have a comfortable life as
what we have today. Furthermore, saving energy contribute in reducing the ca
on
footprint that is caused by overuse of energy. Secondly, people will be able to save
money by cutting down the expense of electricity bills. Finally, people will learn to use
energy efficiently and this in turn will ensure their own safety and prosperity.
A. Data collection

During the research I collected my information through various resources:
 Data and facts from the internet research in order to support some
information and doing the calculations.
 Doing a survey on my classmates and family members.
 E-mail interview with sustainability expert “Rebecca Taylor “and the
Facilities Coordinator Mohammed Rasheed.
In addition, there are some resources that helped me to collect the statistical data.
 Electricity bills for the previous months which shows the total unit used in
each period.
2. Results
2.1 The internet research gave me information about the UAE energy
consumptions. For example, UAE energy resources depend on burning oil
which causes harm to the earth by increasing the ca
on footprint.
2.2 The survey filled by my classmates and family members which is illustrated in
a chart, provided to me information about the most daily consuming gadget.
