Acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of motor skill development is essential if one wants to opt for a profession of becoming an Athletic trainer. To train an athlete it is essential to recognize the motor skills the athlete is lacking. Therefore, it is impossible to become a successful athletic trainer if one lacks the ability to identify the importance of developing motor skills while training an athlete.
Motor skill has been defined as an energy intensive form of Stimulus Response Learning (SRL) that generates a vigorous neuronal modification (Carlson, Neil, 2013). It has also been stated that it is relatively permanent skill to retort effectively and appropriately when acquired and retained (Adams J.A., 1971).
Focusing on developing motor learning skills can fairly transform the ability to perform a skill due to continuous practice or experience as it helps to change the accuracy of movements. Therefore, as a trainer the goal must consist of primarily enhancing the motor skill and then move into the technicality so that the rate of success, high flexibility and energy is achieved by the athletes.
