After you have reviewed the list of research essay topics, choose one and write a brief outline of your research plan.The outline should include a detailed statement of your topic including:
  • an explanation of why you regard the topic as important (why do you want to find out about it);
  • a summary of what ideas and information you plan to use or acquire (what you want to learn);
  • a description of your intended approach (what questions do you want ask);
  • a review of the sources of ideas and information you hope to consult (where do you want to find the answers);
  • a statement of expectations about the results you wish to achieve (what conclusions you expect to draw).
Your outline should be "aspirational" (i.e., a tentative statement of aninitialplan). If things go well, you may learn things you did not expect, find that your initial assumptions and expectations were wrong; discover things that actually change you mind or lead you in another diection entirely. Don't worry if, after examining your topic, you decide to revise or even replace your initial outline ... change is possible and often leads to an improvement.Pleasedo not think of this outline (and especially your research essay) as a traditional "five-paragraph essay."Your outline should be no more than 1,000 words (probably fewer).

Importance of the Topic
This topic that I have chosen for the paper, “The mass media are as much about promoting a dominant ideology as providing entertainment” is of utmost importance because it effects our everyday life. From children to old people, everybody consumes the content that mass media feeds us and our opinions, thoughts and nature are influenced by the media. We hear the media being unbiased but is it actually true? Because there are real people and their thoughts and
ains behind those content. And they have opinions. Their opinions reflect on their writeups or composition, sometimes indirectly and sometimes very directly. And that opinion, while resonating with the opinion of the younger minds, makes the agenda stronger and louder. There is no problem with people having strong opinions, in fact, I am all for it. But it should not come from a party that claims to have unbiased opinions. Plus, the mass media, even through entertainment, reflects the flawed mindsets of the society which is considered very normal. It may be normal in the society but that does not necessarily imply that it’s co
ect. But the people who are yet to be molded catch of those stereotypes very easily and this is how the mass media are as much about promoting a dominant ideology as providing entertainment. This topic is very important because it influences people of all religion, region and age group, basically each and every living human being.
Ideas and Information
Mass media as the name suggests is a mode of communication to reach a vast majority of people. This includes newspaper, radio, television, internet, magazines, and movies and so on.
