Your essay should also include a well defined thesis statement located at the end of the 1st paragraph, the introduction. Each body paragraph should have a well defined topic sentence and textual evidence to support your claim. Lastly, your essay should include a conclusion that restates your thesis and reiterates your overall argument.

The Devil in “The devil and Tom Walker” and “Young Goodman Brown”
The devil as a character has appeared in many stories, either in the form of a human or some supernatural form. In the two stories, “The devil and Tom Walker” and “Young Goodman Brown”, the devil appears in the form of a human, dressed and speaking like them and interacts with the main characters of the story. He identifies himself as the devil and calls others to evil directly. However, what is striking in both the stories is that he never forces others to do evil but instead only leads them or guides them to it. The devil in both the stories is only a road to evil that eventually the main characters choose themselves.
