Overview
There are two final projects for this course: a final paper and a final presentation. The second final project for this course is the creation of a presentation on a
child welfare issue.
As a human services practitioner, adhering to legal and ethical guidelines is critical. Not only do the practitioners need to have a solid understanding of these
guidelines and how they relate to the complex child welfare issues, but they also need to be aware of best practices and the most effective service delivery
models to act within these guidelines when working with children and families. Practitioners can also help families who are receiving services to negotiate the
legal and ethical guidelines that affect them through education and recommending resources. In addition to providing service for immediate crisis, it is important
for the practitioner to empower families through education.
Incorporate scholarly research into the presentation. Scholarly research includes journal articles, government websites, and books. As you research, examine the
sources you choose for validity and bias. Use sources from reliable authors. For the presentation, you will select a case study based on the selected issue. Using
this case study, you will design a presentation for the family in the study that will provide education around the laws, regulations, and resources available in its
community.
The final presentation is supported by one milestone, which will be submitted in Module Five. The final presentation submission is due in Module Seven.
In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:
Recommend Department of Health and Human Services and community resources for assisting families and children from birth to adolescence in
navigating legal and child welfare guidelines
Apply state and federal laws, regulations, and ethical principles of the child welfare program to real-life situations
Analyze the impact of best practices for adhering to legal and ethical guidelines in working with children
Evaluate service delivery models for their effectiveness in meeting specific child welfare needs

In the paper, you provided a
oad examination of the child welfare issue. Now, for the presentation, you will research and select a case study related to the
previously selected issue. Your case study must include a family with a child and identify a community. If your case does not identify a community, you may apply
your own community or a community of your choice. You will now design a presentation for the family in the study about the specific resources the state and
federal Departments of Health and Human Services can provide, as well as those available in the family’s specific community. You will then discuss case-specific
laws and guidelines and recommend resources to help navigate them.
Use the case study that you chose in Module One. This case study should relate to the selected issue from your child welfare issue paper (Final Paper). Using this
case study, you will design a presentation for the family in the study that will provide education around the laws, regulations, and resources available in the
community.
Because the audience for your presentation is a family, consider how to make your presentation family-oriented in terms of using pictures and graphics and less
text on screen. You can use PowerPoint, or other options such as PowToon or Prezi. These options are less static and may engage your audience more completely.
However, before you use one of these tools, be sure to check with your instructor for approval and to ensure that your instructor will be able to access and view
the presentation file or link. Submit your presentation as a file or link, depending on the presentation resource you have been approved to use. Test the link or
file before you upload your final submission to ensure that your instructor will be able to view.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
I. Introduction: Identify specific needs of the family around the issue and the family’s demographics. Where does the family live and why will this be
important? What is child’s age and why will this be important? Two distinct child welfare case study options will be provided for your support and
guidance during Module Four. Refer to your readings and tasks in Module Four for assistance.
II. Resources: In Module Two, you applied federal legislation to a case study. There are readings and resources in Module Two that will assist you with this
part of the project. Additionally, use the readings and tasks from Module Four to learn more about resources.
A. Discuss the resources the chosen state and federal Departments of Health and Human Services provide around the specific child welfare issue.
Are there restrictions to who can use these resources? How would these resources apply to this family? What benefits would these resources
provide the family? Where are there gaps in service?
B. Discuss the resources the family’s specific community can provide around the specific child welfare issue? Are there restrictions to who can
obtain these services? How would these resources apply to this family? What benefits would these resources provide the family? Where are

III. Legality: In addition to the resources listed in Critical Element II above, use the readings and tasks in Module Four to solidify your understanding of
legislation, as well as child welfare guidelines.

Milestones
Milestone One: Outline of Presentation
In Module Five, you will create a 3–4 page outline of your presentation in a Word document, ensuring that your presentation is appropriately tailored to your
target audience, which is the family in the study. You may include images at the end of your outline, but they are not required nor will they count towards your
equired 3-4 page outline. Be sure to address all critical elements as listed above (I–V). This rough draft should include all of the following sections: Introduction,
Resources, Legality, Recommendations, and Communication. Be sure to also include reference slides. This milestone is graded with the Final Presentation

Final Submission: Presentation
In Module Seven, you will submit your presentation. It should be a complete, polished artifact containing all of the critical elements of the final product. It
should reflect the incorporation of feedback gained throughout the course. This milestone will be graded using the Final Presentation Ru

Guidelines for Submission: Your presentation must be 6–10 slides in length, including speaker notes, and use APA formatting. You may use PowerPoint, Prezi,
