Background of Case
There was a report was received by the DSS authority, alleging that Jimmy and Amy participated in physical fights while the children were present in the house. The DSS also notified that defendant mother, Amy was under substance use while she was pregnant. This consistent use of crack could significantly hamper the pregnancy. Due to the heavy use of crack, daughter of Amy is particularly weak and medically fragile (Downs, Moore and Mcadden, 2009). I have also researched that Amy has come across numerous misfortunes in past several years. Furthermore, Amy has been evicted from her home twice due to non-payment of the house rent. It is further notified that she had been going to the homeless shelter while keeping her children with the cousins. The DSS also notified that child are at major risk of neglect, child maltreatment and physical abuse. They also suggested that Amy needs to seek comprehensive treatment for mental instability and substance use
