XXXXXXXXXXConstruction Information Systems - Assignment 1 outline Assessment 1: Assignment 1 (essay) (group of 4 to 5 students) – 20% Overview  Assignment 1 is on the advanced software and hardware technology and communication tools presently used in the building industry. It is a group assignment with individual topic by each group members Details This Assignment will be 20% of Assessment in Construction Information Systems. It is to be presented in report format on A4 paper suitably bound in a cover and it must be word processed. Presentation, conciseness, thorough research and relevance of material will be rewarded. All sources are to be acknowledged and correctly referenced. Five (5) topic areas are listed below. Any group with three (3) students or less must cover any three topics and the group consisting more than three (3) students will require to cover a number of topics as per number of students in the group (for example a group with four students will require to cover any four topics) Topic 1: Advanced technology – Hardware Topic 2: Advanced technology – Software Topic 3: Communication technology Topic 4: Expert System Topic 5: Future directions in building information systems The whole report should be around XXXXXXXXXXwords for all topics ( maximum 1000 words per topic). You are not expected to cover the whole topic area. You are expected to investigate in detail an: issue, facet, technological advance, new product, etc. on each topic area. For example ”you are expected to outline the followings for any of the topic:  System requirements and features (advanced capabilities)  Relevance to the Construction Industry  Cost Benefit in comparison to relevant software or hardware Assessment schedule: Week 4 identification and outline of individual topic: 5% (due in week 4 Friday 11;59pm via turnitin) Week 8 full group report: 15% (due in week 8 Friday 11:59 - online) Each student in a group must identify specific title of a topics and give a brief outline of what you intend to do including possible sources (references) of your data, relevance to Construction Industry, and comparison with the relevant systems including brief features in week 4, and submit individually via turnit in . You may be asked about your topics in week 4 in the lecture. Each student must have unique specific topics and if necessary, students may be instructed to change topics at week 4 to achieve this. By Week 4 you must form a group on vUWS and collaborate to complete the report. All students must read the final report and make sure each of you have researched separate topic area and once checked then submit the full report via turn it in in week 8. One group member can submit the group report identifying individual group members topic title.
