This source entails the use of project management techniques for managing the virtual teams that work on software development.  The problems related to virtual teams arise due to the collaborative nature of the software development team that can be managed by implementing the techniques related to digital media. The distance between the different team members is a major challenge that needs to be managed because it impacts the visibility, communication and coordination between the virtual team. Virtual project management helps to improve team collaboration because the exchange of information between the different hierarchies of the organization is quite easier as compared to the earlier project management techniques. As a result of this research, it is highlighted that project management related areas need to be addressed successfully by implementing the virtual techniques for managing the global teams. Effective infrastructure can be implemented in the organization to support the senior management for managing the challenges related to the virtual teams. The main purpose of this research is to identify the challenges related to virtual project management by considering the scenario of developing countries. It is identified that multicultural virtual teams are very hard to manage as compared to the traditional techniques that are used in the organization to manage different team members who belong to different cultures. Face-to-face context is very different as compared to the virtual teams in terms of cultural aspects. It is very hard to manage the different time zones in terms of virtual project management as compared to the traditional project management techniques.
