Why was the fire of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory so deadly?
Answer: Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire was one of the most tragic disasters during the industrial age. It is considered a man-made disaster as it could have been prevented. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory consists of several floors of Manhattan business. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factor can be defined as a sweatshop as well. According to the reports, around 500 people worked in the building (CBS News, 2011). 11-12 hours was the average working time in the factory. Most of the people who were involved in the work are belong to the category of “immigrant women” and “teenagers” who does not even speak in English. Sewing shirtwaists is the primary activity in which these women were involved into.
On March 25th, 1911, a fire started from a bin of cotton scraps (CBS News, 2011). It is expected that the main source of fire is a cigarette button.
