Due Date: 11:59 p.m. EST, Sunday of Unit 6
Points: 100

Overview:

Over the course of the last few units, you have been working on crafting the argument
for your Argument Essay. Now, you will
ing all of what you have completed together
and create your Argument Essay.

The essay should answer ONE of these questions regarding social media and
your career:

1. Why or why not should social media be used as a way to hire or fire an employee?
2. Why or why not should social media be used as a form of communication in the
workplace?
3. Why or why not should companies use social media to promote themselves?

Consider the type of career that you are interested in exploring. Social media is fast
ecoming an important part of our everyday lives, including within our chosen careers.
Your essay should answer just ONE of the questions above from the perspective of the
career you are considering focusing on.

What is an Argument?

We have probably all had to argue for a position we held. What makes someone
eceptive to your argument? Normally, the audience is more willing to listen to your
position if you argue for it objectively and avoid unreasonable, argumentative tactics. In
this argument essay, you will demonstrate your ability to create a logical and fair
argument.

In order for something to be considered an argument, people must have the ability to
disagree with you. Your argument also needs to be something you can maintain an
objective stance on.

Instructions:

• Create an argument essay that argues for your position on the issue of social
media within your career.

Introduction
The rise and spread of social media has greatly affected the lives of professionals. In fact, social media platforms are now recognized not only as the places where people get to know each other through virtual means but also they tend to present their views in online mode over various topics (Rogers 2020). With the new dimension added to social media, the professional world has emphasized over the need of regulating the behavior of professionals working with any organizations in the online world with particular focus given to their social media accounts. The debate is now on the subject whether or not, employees are to be hired or fired based on their activities on social media. The professional employee should not be put under the restriction of hiring and firing through their social media based activities because everyone has the right to keep work and personal life split as well as social media is not the place from where, a judgment or opinion can be made about the professional.
