Menstrual cycle is generally regarded as a taboo in today’s world but it is a topic to be discussed because without there is no evolution and childbirth.
It is just like any other system in human that is important for survival.

THE SHEDDING OF ENDOMETRIUM WHEN FERTILISATION DO NOT OCCUR.
THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE USUALLY STARTS IN A GIRL BETWEEN 9 -15YEARS. THE 1ST MENSTRUAL CYCLE IS CALLED MENARCHE.
THE WOMEN WILL HAVE THE MENTRUAL CYCLE EVERY 28-35 DAYS, TILL SHE ATTAIN 50-55YEARS, AFTER WHICH THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE CEASES. THE CEASATION OF MENSTRUAL CYCLE IS CALLED MENOPAUSE.
THE PERIOD OF MENSTRUAL CYCLE MARKS THE REPRODUCTIVE PHASE OF A WOMEN.

It is also regarded as bleeding phase as during this phase women has a shed of blood along with remnants of ovum and endometrium.

HOW DOES MENSTRUATION OCCUR?
The shedding of endometrium includes the action of various hormones that include estrogen, progesterone, luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone etc.
The formation of female gamete is refe
ed as Oogenesis. The formation of oocytes occurs at fetal stage and ceases after birth.
The oocytes develop into primary follicles . The primary follicles get su
ounded by granulosa layers and theca called secondary follicles.
The secondary follicles transform into tertiary follicle called antrum which are fluid-filled cavities.
The tertiary follicles mature into Graafian follicles.
During puberty, graafian follicles rupture to release an ovum from ovary, by a process called ovulation.
If fertilisation do not occur, the ovum
eaks down along with the developed endometrium and sheds along with blood leading to menstruation.
Menstruation occurs with the development of endometrium which the inner most layer of the uterus.
It occurs once this layer
eaks down if pregnancy do not occur.

PHASES OF MENSTRUAL CYCLE
The image shows different phases of menstrual cycle and the fertile period during the month.
The menstrual phase is considered to be the least fertile phase as the there is no presence or availability of ovum.
The ovulatory phase is considered to be the most fertile period as the ovum is present in the ampullary-isthmic junction, which is ready for fertilisation.
The luteal phase has lest chances of fertilisation as the luteolysis of ovum and endometrium begins during this phase
Menstruation is a complete process occurs throughout the month in different phases,
