Health Issues in Shreveport Louisiana
One of the most prevalent health issues in Shreveport, Louisiana is Cardiovascular Diseases. According to Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the chronic health conditions like stroke, high BP, high cholesterol, heart problems etc are most costly, most common and preventable health issues affecting the people of Shreveport (Louisiana Department of Health, 2019). Public health in Shreveport is also influenced by many factors like poor education, unavailability of clean water, high rate of foster and homeless children, substance use, high rate of crime such as domestic violence, gun violence, and violence related to substance use. The violent crime rate in Louisiana is 510 per 100,000 persons.
Structure and Function of Public Health
The public healthcare system at Louisiana, United States is based on three tier system which involves Federal, state and local government. 
The Federal Government of United States plays a central role; it surveys the health needs, sets standards and policies at national level, passes regulations, supports research and delivers resources and technical assistance to the states and local healthcare service centres. It works through national healthcare Organisations like CDC, NIH, FDA, Health Resources and Public Administration etc.
