This reflective essay is to demonstrate the incident of asthma that took place at my workplace during my clinical assignment. This assignment is to develop my understanding and skills in the assessment, analysis, and intervention of asthmatic patients. I am using Rolfe’s reflective framework in this reflection (Rolfe et al., 2012).
A 28-year-old patient presented to the hospital, with difficulty in
eathing and chest pain along with a cough. The patient appears to be leaning forward due to respiratory distress. The patient was suffering from asthma since he was 8 years old. His skin appears to be red due to acute dermatitis.
The physical assessment shows that the respiratory rate was high (38/minute), oxygen saturation was 77 %, blood pressure 136/92 mmHg (millimeter of mercury), heart rate was 122/minute, temperature 38.9 ° Celsius (Degree Celcius), and blood sugar level 6 mmol/L (millimole per liter). The patient was fully awake but not aware of the su
oundings, and the patient had normal pupil size. The patient experienced difficulty walking without assistance and was not able to lie down horizontally head facing upwards....
