Soy or commonly known as soya bean is a type of leguminous pulse that mainly grows in the eastern parts of Asia. It is a high supplement of protein, increasing protein content in the body for its growth and build. It is fat-free, which is why it is more popular among the men, especially, who are involved in body-building. However, as argued by Kraemer et al. (2013), the consumption of soy protein, as a protein supplement, can lead to many ill effects such as lower responses of the sex hormones, such as testosterone in them and blunted response of cortisol.
Since soy protein helps in gaining body mass and bone weight within very less time span; therefore, as stated by Lesinski et al. (2015), people are consuming it more commonly, in the form of supplementary food or drink. Muscles are built strong with the action of the protein molecules directly supplied into the muscle cells, which has been proven to be quite helpful for body builders. However, one cannot deny that despite the benefits, the consumption of soy protein, along with other protein supplements such as whey protein; impose a number of negative impacts on the hormonal health of the men.
