Affordable Care Act (ACA)
ACA was signed by President Obama in the year 2010. Hence, it is also known as Obamacare. The main aim behind developing this act was to provide insurance to the citizens residing in The United States. There are several people, in the country, who cannot avail insurance policies either due to a low paying job or due to unemployment or even some kind of life threatening disease such as cancer or other chronic diseases.
According to a report submitted by Collins and Lambrew (2019), an estimated number of 20 million people got insurance coverage and there was a considerable difference found in the adult uninsured rates between (Texas and Massachussetes) the highest and the lowest states, which narrowed down to five percentage points. Similarly, California too had a reduction in its number of uninsured citizens to a staggering 14 percentage points as in 2017. 
Pros of the Act
There are a lot of benefits associated with the proposal of Affordable Act the most common and effective one being that more than 16 million of Americans received health insurance making it affordable for people with lower income groups too.
