The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is also formally known as Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and often just called Obamacare is a healthcare reform, which was signed by the President Obama in the year March 2010. This law extends health insurance coverage to millions of people residing in the United States that are not insured. Many people are known to suffer from pre-existing illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney disease or cancer due to which the insurance companies either deny them insurance coverage or ask them to pay huge amount of premiums. As stated by Courtemanche, Marton, Ukert, Yelowitz and Zapata (2018), this Affordable Act is beneficial in a way that it makes it illegal for the insurance companies to charge extra premium as well as to deny any insurance coverage to the people suffering from pre-existing illnesses.
