QUESTION 4
"Best Practices for Revision" Please respond to the following:
Describe ONE best practice that you use for revising written messages and why this best practice works for you.
RELIGION STUDY
Discussion 1: “Actionless Action.” Please respond to the following:
Identify any aspects of wu wei that would be practical in the busy lives of city dwellers, especially those living in the West.
Explain whether or not you think that wu wei would be a reasonable way for a person to live his or her life. Explain why or why not it would be reasonable for you personally.
Provide your own example of the so-called “paradox of wu wei” in which you demonstrate how a person can consciously “try not to try.”
Discussion 2: “The Superior Person.” Please respond to the following:
Read Confucius’ description of a Superior Person:
“Wealth and honor are what every man desires. But if they have been obtained in violation of moral principles, they must not be kept. Poverty and humble station are what every man dislikes. But if they can be avoided only in violation of moral principles, they must not be avoided. If a superior man departs from humanity, how can he fulfill that name? A superior man never abandons humanity even for the lapse of a single meal. In moments of haste, he acts according to it. In times of difficulty or confusion, he acts according to it” (from “the Analects of Confucius” in An Anthology of Living Religions, p.144).
With basic Confucian principles in mind (such as the concepts of virtue, ren, reciprocity, and so forth), imagine Confucius’ Superior Person as a modern-day super hero.
Describe what sort of super powers this person would have and how he or she would combat evil.
Provide a “real-life” example of someone who you believe meets Confucius’ characteristics for a Superior Person, and explain why.

Assignment 1
Discuss the criteria you will employ to determine if people on earth are religious — in other words, what does religion look like
Own solid biblical criteria to use in determining if people on earth are religious include an examination of a number of variables. The variables to examine include their spiritual authority, their claimed doctrinal beliefs, their actual practices, and their actual actions against religious norms.
What their Spiritual Authority is
Examining peoples’ spiritual authority is probably an easy and simple task. Under this variable, an analysis is made on what people say in their spiritual authority that is in their teachings, writings, preaching and what is observed in their religious practices (Baier, 2010, pp. 107-108).
What entails Claimed Doctrinal Beliefs
Different Holy books present a body of doctrinal beliefs that people ought to take and make their own. Therefore, in judging whether people on earth are religious, an examination is made to determine if they profess the religion’s doctrine. If they do not profess the Apostles’ doctrine, then they are not religious (Dweck, 2008, p. 392).
What their Actual Practices Are
True doctrine always affects one’s daily walk and practices. Practice is termed a valid and logical outcome of a belief. Thus, it is logical to judge the religious degree of people through their actual practice. For instance, examining their personal relationships, humility, openness, worship characteristics, communion, modes of prayer, and ritual systems among other factors indicates whether they are religious or not. If they portray a positive outcome in such variables, then it is apparent to assert that they are religious. For instance, to examine if people believe in Buddhism, practices to consider include right action, right speech, right effort, right livelihood, and right mindfulness. An examination is to be made as to whether people gossip, lie, engage in divisive speech, speak harshly, steal, engage in sexual misconduct, and destroy life. If people are found to exhibit positive outcomes in such variables, then they belong to Buddhism religion, the reverse is the case.
Their Actions against Religious Norms
It is common and normal for one to commit sin. But if a sin is committed one is always expected to portray a religious response. Therefore, religious people always portray an atmosphere of repentance such as rebuke, counselling, public confession, and denouncing. Thus, in determining whether people on earth are religious, an examination is made on how they treat violations to their beliefs and norms. In Buddhism religion, violation of religious norms is treated through application of discipline, where the mind is forced to comprehend the wrong done (Malhotra, 2010, p. 138).
Describe three (3) examples of behaviours or beliefs you observe that meet the criteria you established above
Belief in Spiritual Authority
Religious groups such as Seven Day Adventist, Jehovah Witness, Roman Catholicism, and Pentecostal churches portray different spiritual authority beliefs. Seven Day Adventist acknowledges the Bible to be the authority for their doctrines, norms, and practices. However, writings of Ellen White are treated with the same measure given to the Bible. Spiritual authority for Jehovah Witness involves The Watch Tower, which binds them together. The Roman Catholicism term the ‘vicar of Christ’ as their spiritual authority and anyone who refuses to admit his or her e
ors and sins does not meet the standards of the Holy Scripture. The Pentecostal churches regard the divine Scriptures (66 books of the Bible) as their only true divine spiritual authority. Buddhism regards the image of Buddha as their spiritual authority. Muslims term Allah as their God, hence...
