Introduction 
This essay would throw light on the role of a patient education representative in various aspects of treating patients, post operations and with illnesses. The essay is based on the information collected from the interview of an elderly patient named Mr. X (name confided on confidentiality ground). Mr. X is 65 years’ old and is suffering from hypertension issues, along with dementia and anxiety. The interviewee is under homecare and he is seeking patient education for self-management.
The interview provided relevant information about the healthcare system since it was largely based on the experience of a patient. As supported by Sodhro et al. (2018), a healthcare practitioner or a patient education representative plays a pivotal role in improving the health status of a diseased person post-illness and operations. Postoperative period or the post-illness period requires extensive care as the health remains fragile during that time. Therefore, the role and the advice of the health professionals will be evaluated in this essay.
