Purpose
This week's graded topics relate to the following Course Outcome (CO).
- CO 9: Examine future trends in community health nursing, including the impact of information systems and evidence-based practice. (PO 8)
The Assignment
Review this week's lesson and assigned reading on the nurses' role in population health, and reflect on what you have learned in this course. Address the following questions.
- What future concerns are likely to impact public health?
- How do you see global health concerns impacting your community?
- Identify one way that you can implement population health in your community or workplace.
Week 8 Objectives:
- Evaluate current and future trends representing the health of a community using evidence-based practice.
- Assess the use of public health informatics in developing, implementing, evaluating, and improving policies, programs, and services.
Review past discussions and what you have learned over the past few weeks. Refer to the assigned readings for Week 8.
- What do you think needs to take precedence in community health nursing in the next five to fifteen years?
- What current scholarly evidence can you find to support your ideas?
- What ideas or best practices (evidence-based practice) could you transfer to your current nursing practice?
- What are some key concepts that you remember about community health nursing? The Public Health Intervention Wheel is a good place to start.
- What is one way that you can implement key concepts about population health in your community or workplace?
- In regard to technology and informatics: Is the 'future' already here?
