You will analyze and evaluate these articles in your submission, which should include:

Literature on Performance-based model for healthcare reimbursement 
The current healthcare reimbursement system is largely based on the fee-for-service model where medical professionals are paid based on their service regardless of health outcomes. Since this model is not conducive to quality of care provided to patients, patient health outcomes and quality care maybe compromised. A performance-based model can be considered as an alternative means of healthcare reimbursement system which will focus on compensation to medical professionals based on the quality of care they deliver. 
In one study conducted on the proposed model in Uganda, 30 village health workers and 7 program supervisors used PBI (Performance-Based Initiative) with 20 indicators to assess the effectiveness of performance-based incentives. Both the supervisors and VHW showed satisfaction and preferred this method to the previous method. Some areas of concern that were recognized include, concern regarding variation of payments and desire for increased pay. Females were found to earn slightly higher as well as those who covered more houses. Education and proximity to district did not impact the results. Further research is needed for determining the long-term effects and scalability of PBI and application in other contexts.
